The Legend of Cap Coch (published May 2023)

One of the most notorious local characters from history is the mass murdering highwayman known as Cap Coch. Cap Coch was the landlord of the New Inn which used to stand on the west bank of the river Ogmore, next to the Dipping Bridge in Merthyr Mawr.

Island Farm History (published June 2023)

Please follow this link to learn more about the fascinating history of Island Farm. which during the Second World War became a camp for 1,600 German prisoners, some of whom escaped.

The only remaining building on site is Hut 9. A group of volunteers - The Hut 9 Preservation Group - have been established for many years and became a charity in February 2022. The Group holds 'open weekends' throughout the year. For more information please http://www.hut9.org.uk/index.htm
