About Us
The area encompassed by Merthyr Mawr Community Council is remarkably diverse. It ranges from industrial operations on the site of the former World War 2 airfield at Stormy Down to the Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) known as Merthyr Mawr Sand Dunes on the shores of the Bristol Channel. To the east of the area it includes modern housing developments at Island Farm Close whilst the village of Merthyr Mawr itself has many old dwellings that are still roofed with thatch - making it a favourite location for film and TV programme makers from Cardiff and further afield. The Merthyr Mawr estate has a range of converted farm buildings that nowadays provide attractive accommodation for business users.
